The South Valley tour offers you the chance to enjoy the stunning landscapes of the Andean highlands. On this tour, you’ll marvel at the majestic hydraulic architecture of Tipón, the fascinating pre-Inca constructions at Pikillaqta, and the religious art of the Cusco School in the beautiful Andahuaylillas Temple.

Tipón, considered a royal garden commissioned by Wiracocha, is one of the finest examples of Inca agricultural terraces. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Tipón with Andes Explore Peru

  • The tour begins with Andes Explore Peru taking you to the impressive archaeological complex of Tipón, considered one of the finest examples of Inca agricultural terraces. It is said that this site was a royal garden commissioned by Wiracocha. With Andes Explore Peru, you'll explore the terraces that stretch across the valley, fed by natural springs from the Apu Pachatusan. You will also discover the temples, irrigation channels, and aqueducts that form part of this complex, located just 24 km southeast of Cusco.
  • After enjoying Tipón, Andes Explore Peru will guide you to Pikillaqta, the only pre-Inca site near Cusco. This adobe complex was built by the Wari culture between 700 and 900 AD. Nearby, with Andes Explore Peru, you will have the chance to visit the small but intriguing Inca site of Rumicolca, which served as a toll station for travelers passing through the area.
  • The third stop with Andes Explore Peru will be in the charming town of Andahuaylillas. Here you can visit its famous church, known as the "Sistine Chapel of Peru," home to impressive golden altars, paintings of the Cusco School, and colorful ceilings. Andes Explore Peru will ensure you appreciate the contrast between the modest exterior and the stunning interior filled with colonial art.
  • On the way back to Cusco, Andes Explore Peru will take you through the town of Saylla, where you can taste the delicious traditional food of the region, such as the famous pork chicharrones, roasted lechón, and the traditional Chairo soup, eaten since Inca times.
